Photos by Thomas Harman (White-lined Sphinx Moth)

I wasn't sure what my wife was talking about when she said there were some strange-looking moths flying around the shrubs out front of our house in Midland, TX.  The next morning, I went out early to get the paper and saw for myself what she had talked about and decided to try and get some photos of them.

There were about a half dozen flying around our Nellie Stevens holly shrub, feeding on the blooms.  At first I was just trying to get a decent shot from a distance, but soon realized that I was able to stand very close to the branches and the moths did not seem to mind my presence.  The photo of the moth with its tongue out was a bonus.
